What is reindeer moss?

It is a type of lichen that occurs naturally in Poland and also in Scandinavian countries. With us, however, it is partially protected, therefore, if you dream about decorations with its use, it must be brought from another country, e.g. using the scandinavianmoss.eu website.

There are two theories about the origin of the name. The first is that the moss is one of the main food sources of reindeer. The second, in turn, refers to the shape of the moss, resembling reindeer antlers.

How to prepare moss for indoor use?

When you think about decorating a wall with moss, you are surely asking yourself what to do with the decoration when the moss withers. Well, it is not a problem, contrary to appearances. The point is that the moss constantly draws moisture from the air – it does not have to, and even cannot be watered. In addition, the moss is properly prepared to play a decorative role.

The next stage is dyeing the moss to give it an intense, visually attractive colour. Thanks to such treatments, you do not have to worry about its appearance even for the next several years.

Reindeer moss – how to attach it to the wall?

Contrary to appearances, it is quite simple. It is enough to prepare floristic glue, PVC panels, as well as mounting glue or screws. Glue the moss to the panel with floristic glue, and try to stick to it quite densely. Then, when the panels are completely full, attach them to the wall in the place of your choice. The decoration is ready!

You can fill the wall with moss this way, or try creative styling that you can do yourself, or even consider hiring an interior decorator. Much depends only on you, but remember not to collect moss by yourself, and order it from legal sources.
